Random Thoughts of a Lioness

The reward of conformity was that everyone liked you, except yourself.

I take thee, Ash...

Ash and Boy are now Mr and Mrs.

Unlike most weddings I went to, the akad for this one was done in the mosque WITHOUT the presence of the bride. Ash was waiting at home with the rest of us, while Boy had to face the kadi at a nearby mosque with three others. According to Buster the Reporter, all three of them had to line up in front of the kadi and take a number of who would go first. And much to Buster's dismay (that he wasn't married in Perak), they had an alternative akad which was even shorter than the one in Terengganu! Boy went second, and after trying the long akad once (and failed to do so in one breath)..he was officially married after the second try (with the short version). Ash, Ebs and I were trying hard to hear via the reporter's loudspeaker phone. We just heard rustling, and a few seconds later received an SMS written Congratulations Mrs Ash. The look on her face was priceless! And the first thing she said to Ebs and me was - Guess I'm part of the club now. Ebs, you're next!

Boy came back to the house shortly after to present Ash with the mas kahwin and ring, and that was that. Buster mentioned that if Mr EllyB finds out about the akad, he will claim he is the most macho out of them all. After all, he was subjected to that loooong akad, with an even longer taqliq!*grin*

The reception was held the night after. Ash looked like the radiant bride that she was, and Boy was smiling all the way. After all the tensed moments and fights and drama prior to the wedding, it was heartwarming to see them laughing. *Although we thought Ash could've smiled more on the bridal dais!* It was also great to see old friends seated at the table. As Siti Karipap put it - it is amazing how everyone has grown, and yet could still switch back to our college-girl mode just for a night. The only housemate missing was EllyB. Oh, oh, and the speech went well*Sighs relief*. By the way Mr.(You-Know-Who), thanks for helping out with the speech - especially the Malay part. The girls were laughing at me reciting the pantuns! Mujo dok tersilap switch to Terengganuspeak! After taking what I felt like hundreds of pictures, we left Ash and Boy with a mob of other photographers and made our own separate ways home.

Here's wishing a lifelong happiness to Ash and Boy..amin..

And girls - see you in March!
